Giulio Federico

Giulio Federico is the Head of the Unit for Mergers at the Chief Economist Team (CET) of DG Competition. As part of his role he oversees the work of the CET on mergers and is the main advisor to the Chief Economist on merger-related matters. He joined the European Commission in late 2011, and has been coordinating the merger work at the CET since mid-2012. Prior to joining the European Commission he worked in economic consultancy for 10 years and was a Vice President at Charles River Associates. He is a guest professor at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, and was the President of the Association of Competition Economics in 2014 and 2015. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Oxford (Nuffield College).
