Kristine Berzina

Transatlantic Fellow, Brussels GMF,

Kristine Berzina is a Transatlantic Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States, where she is responsible for leading energy programming and contributing to foreign policy and security initiatives. Kristine has authored several publications on energy security, transatlantic energy trade flows, resource exploration in the Arctic, and international affairs more broadly.

Prior to joining GMF, Berzina assessed prospects for transatlantic liquefied natural gas trade for the American Clean Skies Foundation in Washington, DC. At the Ecologic Institute in Berlin, Berzina contributed to studies on EU energy regulation, the Energiewende, and helped run a transatlantic exchange program. She has also worked on climate change and international development issues in Washington, DC.

Berzina received her master’s degree in International Relations at the University of Cambridge, where she focused on European energy policy, and her Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from Yale University. She is a native Latvian and English speaker, works in German, and has a basic knowledge of Russian.
