VIDEO RECORDING

In comparison with parliaments, universities and state bureaucracies, think tanks are a fairly recent phenomenon in the policy landscape. But in the past few decades, their growth has been nothing short of explosive. Still, the relationship between these organisations and the policy making process is not completely understood, and there is little concrete information about their impact on policy and the public.

This panel discussion will address the growing importance of think tanks around the world.

  • How do think tanks contribute to public and specialist policy debates?
  • What unique challenges do these organisations face?
  • Why are many countries trying to support the emergence of a domestic think tank sector?
