Jolana Mungengová

Member of Cabinet, European Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmström,

Ms Jolana Mungengová is a Member of Cabinet (Policy Assistant) of the EU Commissioner for Trade, Ms Cecilia Malmström. Ms Mungengová joined the European Commission on 01 November 2014 after having worked almost ten years in the European Parliament as a policy advisor, focusing mainly on EU trade policy, economic and monetary affairs, regional policy, and relations with ACP countries.

Ms Mungengová’s current attributions at the European Commission cover a wide range of trade policy aspects, including relations with partner countries of North Africa and Euromed as well as South Asia. Ms Mungengová is also responsible for trade and security matters (e.g. trade in dual use items), dialogue with civil society, transparency and access to documents, fair trade as well as trade in media, cultural goods and services. In additions, she is in charge of relations with EU advisory bodies (EESC, CoR and CoA), the Ombudsman, national parliaments and petitions. She also advises the EU Commissioner for Trade on relations with 5 EU Member States, namely the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland, and Lithuania. Last, but not least, as part of the so-called collegiality, she follows the work of other Commissioners in the area of regional policy; employment, social affairs, skills & labour mobility; the Euro & social dialogue; education, culture, youth & sport; and research, science & innovation.

Ms Jolana Mungengová is a proud Czech and European citizen. Her highest academic degree is a PhD in Political Science from Boston University (MA, USA). She also holds a dual Master degree in Political Science and French Linguistics from the Charles University in Prague (the Czech Republic), and a D.E.A. in Political Science from the Universities of Lausanne and Geneva (Switzerland).
