Reinhard Dammann

Reinhard Dammann is Partner at Clifford Chance, head of the Insolvency and Restructuring Group in Paris. He is member of the Paris Bar and holds a doctorate in German Private International Law from the University of Munich (1991). Reinhard is an Associate Professor at Sciences Po Law School and regularly lectures at Sorbonne Law School.

Reinhard is member of the International Insolvency Institute (III) and INSOL, of the Expert Group advising the European Commission on the recast European Insolvency Regulation and the Directive harmonizing preventive insolvency proceedings in Europe, of the expert group advising the Haut Comité Juridique de la Place Financière de Paris on the harmonization of European Insolvency Law, of the French Committee of Private International Law, of the Scientific Committee of the Fondation pour le Droit Continental (Civil Law Initiative), as well as of steering committees of various business law journals.

He has extensive experience in complex international and cross border restructurings, particularly in the banking sector. A recognized specialist in this field, he authored numerous articles published in specialist and generalist journals in France, Germany and the UK, and is a regular speaker at seminars and conferences.

Reinhard contributed to the commentaries on the European Insolvency Regulation edited by Pannen (Berlin: De Gruyter 2007) and Bork/van Zwieten (Oxford: OUP 2016). Recently, he co-authored with Marc Sénéchal the leading French textbook on international restructuring and insolvency proceedings, “Le droit de l’insolvabilité internationale” (Lextenso, 2018).
