Philip Hiersemenzel

Clean energy advisor, analyst and author, Green Party, Germany

Philip Alexander Hiersemenzel, B.Sc.Econ, MAIA, is a clean energy advisor, analyst and author with a particular focus on energy storage and the efficient integration of 100% clean, but intermittent renewables in our energy system.

Philip trained as an economist, and started his career in investment banking before transitioning to journalism and communications. From 2010 he helped establish and grow the first successful battery storage integrator (Younicos, later acquired by Aggreko) serving as Strategic Advisor and Press Spokesman until 2021. In addition in 2016 Philip also helped launch the thermal energy storage startup Lumenion (serving there until 2021). He also co-authored several papers/studies on the International Energy Transition, Energy Market Design as well as Energy Transition Foreign Policy.

Philip also serves as the coordinator of the German Green party's energy experts committee.

Both politically and professionally he has worked intensively on 100%-clean energy market design concepts and a European CleanTech industrial strategy since 2017.
